Ever felt like  you just need a vacation in the middle of March. If you’re looking to go off the beaten path and try out some amazing new vacation destinations, you are in the right place! With the best place to travel to during March for everything from a luxury spa vacation, to a cultural getaway check out these 5 places to travel in March to enjoy the spring!

An Exciting Festival Getaway

If you’re looking for an adventure full of life and happiness, head over to Kathmandu, Nepal!  The vibrantly artistic city tucked in next to the Himalayas will have you jumping for joy and throwing colors all around you during the Festival of Holi. The worldwide celebration will take on a new flavor as you celebrate with views of the stunning Mount Everest, and the city of Kathmandu will keep you entertained long after Holi is over with its history, art, and unique culture.

For an Outdoor Adventure

Scotland is a land of wild, rugged terrain, and endless beauty. If you’re an adventurer who’s looking to get out into nature and experience some amazing scenery. Then you need to head out to the Scottish Highlands for an unforgettable vacation. March the temperatures are a little cooler but it’s perfect time of year to enjoy days adventuring with smaller crowds. You’ll have exquisite opportunities for trekking in the Scottish mountains. Exploring the deepest of the famous lochs, all while getting a glimpse into the beauty of spring!

To Experience History and Culture

Often the best vacations are the ones where you can dive into a new culture.  In March, finding a spot that isn’t packed full of tourists that remind you of home can be difficult. That dream world vacation may seem just out of reach. Thankfully, it isn’t!

Edinburgh! The capital city of Scotland, is a mecca of Scottish Culture. That has small tourist crowds in March. You’ll be able to lose yourself in museums, monuments, outdoor activities, and delicious food! So, jump on a plane and head over to one of the most loved cities on the British Isles where a glass of local whisky, a brisk outdoor hike, and free museums are all within reach.

Relax on Luxury Vacation

After a long cold winter, it’s easy to crave a luxurious getaway. A surprising location that will keep you feeling pampered while keeping your wallet intact, is Budapest, Hungary.

March in Budapest will be fairly tourist free, lowering prices even more, and leaving you to experience the spa city like a true local! Spend lots of time at the Szechenyi baths –  thermal spas with indoor and outdoor pools – and enjoy the mineral rich water which is said to be good for many physical ailments. For a glimpse into what you can experience, imagine a cool crisp breeze, then jumping into a steaming naturally heated spa that looks out over the Danube river.

Pick a spa hotel to have your own day-long spa experience at your fingertips. When you’re squeaky clean and relaxed from the spa, hop over to the Budapest castle, or the Danube River for a cruise which will take you right past the beautiful architecture which lines the river banks.

See one of the World’s Most Famous Big Cities

Visiting Rome is always an adventure worthy of bucket lists, but with the popularity and looming tourist crowds during the summer, it’s tough to have a frustration free big city getaway. To avoid the crowd and the scorching summer heat, travel in March which is just outside of regular season.

March is a very lively month in Rome. It is the end of Carnevale season where you’ll be amazed at the amount of confetti on the ground. Spring is in full effect with flowers bursting in colors down many of the small brick lined streets.

Ingredients that are in some traditional Roman foods will be in season, ensuring your taste buds will be very happy. After you’ve eaten your fill and enjoyed the mild weather of spring, you’ll have plenty of time to spend at the Eternal City’s popular attractions. I recommend the Colosseum and The Vatican. With the smaller crowds in March, you’ll even be able to snag tour tickets to usually booked places. Youeven might be able to enjoy some elbow room while you explore!
