Once again my Out Of Office mesage was up and I headed to Louisville, Ky. To enjoy horse racing, Bourbon, and time Out of Office. For this trip I decided to stay at The Seelbach Hotel by Hilton, to take in some history with my Bourbon.
Booking
Booking was easy, it always it at Hilton, though the Hilton honors app. The app even let us acknowledge that we were bringing our dogs. The weekend we booked our room, it cost about $150 a night, and unfortunately, I did not see how many Hilton Honors points they wanted to see if it was a better value. Lesson Learned.
Check in
When you walk into the hotel lobby, you can’t help but notice the beauty of it. It is elegant and the history starts to come to life. Check in went smoothly with no issues and the staff was extremely friendly. They provided us with coupons for a military package. This is essentially just the breakfast buffet each morning, but still a very nice touch.
Room
We were in room 322 my guess this is the floor reserved for pets, as we hear other dogs. Walking into the room was a step back in time. Very high ceilings, molding everywhere. It was quite charming. Over all the bed was soft and plenty of room for the dogs to move around. The bathroom was small compared to new hotels. The architecture and vibe of the room was great. I certainly had no problem with the size
.
Amenities
There was no lack of amenities in the Seelbach. From the Seelbach Bar that has been ranked as one of the top bars in the world to the Oak Room one of Louis only Five Diamond winners to the room service that was outstanding. One thing that was particular impressive was the Gym. It had recently been updated and may be the best Hilton gym I have been in.
Location
The Seelbach sits right at the start of 4th Street Live. If you are not filmier with 4th street live, it’s the where most of the night life is located. It is also, a short walk from most other attraction in Louisville: Louisville Slugger Factory, lots of Bourbon distillery’s, the Yumm Center, and performing arts center. So, if you are planning on being active you can’t beat the location.
Overall
I would give the Seelbach 4.7 Stars out of 5. While over all I had a great experience, and enjoyed my stay. I do have to take in account, that while it is a well-preserved building some maintenance was needed. Also, the social hour in the executive lounge was a letdown, as drinks where only provided at a cost, which has not been my experience at other Hilton Hotels. They even had a server standing watch to make sure that you didn’t try to skim a drink. The food/snacks where lacking in both availability and taste. Overall this was more a little inconvenient but did not deter from the experience. I would recommend saying here on your next trip to Louisville!
