BEST PLACES TO VISIT BARBADOS

Barbados is a tropical island that is hot all year round except for August which experiences some light showers. It may seem like this would ruin a chances of going on vacation but that is not the case at all. There are still a lot of fun activities you can take part in, most of which are suitable for families going on vacation together.

What to do

Snorkeling is a fun activity you can indulge in anywhere with a water body but in Barbados it’s done in a slightly different way. While on the catamaran, you get to swim the Green Turtles. And even better you get a chance to snorkel Barbados’ impressive shipwrecks and still get to see the beautiful reef full reef full of colorful marine. This is a fun activity that will give you and your family a chance to strengthen your bond.

 

Sightseeing is one activity that can both educational and fun at the same the time. Barbados is rich with history and exploring it would make a vacation there worth it. A good example is George Washington House which holds a little know piece of history. The fact that it was the former president’s only residence outside the USA makes it very fascinating. This is definitely a place you should check out while vacationing in Barbados.

Other than these two major fun activities, there are still other minor ones you can take part in. Shopping in Barbados is absolutely perfect as it has an amazing mall where you can find all the major brands.

Where to go

Bathsheba is the quaint village that is close to various tourist attractions, therefore making it popular. The Andromeda Tropical Botanic Gardens and Flower forest are located nearby. The beach can be especially great if you have an eye for photography. You can also surf but swimming is prohited because of the dangerous undercurrents. If you want to enjoy the scenery away from other tourists, The Atlantis Hotel has a spectacular view of the rocky beach.

 

Farley Hill National Park is located in a place that was once a rich plantation house. It is now a stunning hilltop garden among a forest of mahogany trees that any tourist would find stunning. This park is now becoming a popular site to hold weddings and picnics. You can explore the house and you’ll notice that the ruins have been transformed into something beautiful as they now frame the flowers. From the top of the hill, you can admire the scenic ocean view. This garden is both beautiful and intriguing, something no one should miss out on.

 

St Nicholas Abbey in Saint Peter has no connection to the church at all as the name suggests. This fascinating historic site was once the heart of a huge sugar plantation and a rum distillery. This house some pretty dramatic beginnings that would be interesting for you to learn as you explore it. From just hearing about it, the St Nicholas Abbey may seem like any other ancient house but seeing it for yourself with change your perspective.

Where to stay

The Atlantis Hotel is the best place to stay when visiting the quaint village of Bathsheba. The best thing about this hotel is the great view of the ocean, one of the reasons why you’d go on vacation in Bathsheba. The hotel‘s décor is Caribbean and to add a more different tone to it, the furniture is colonial. To make things even better, the Andromina Botanical Gardens are just nearby, making your trip more convenient. Overall this hotel is a great choice since its great in its description and looking at the guest reviews, the praise is well deserved.

Farley hill has a lot to offer so it’s only fair that you find accommodation close by. Set in a pre-historic, building the Red Lion Hotel boasts an award winning restaurant decorated with relics. The rooms here are made to make sure than you enjoy your stay as they have WiFi and even coffee making facilities. The location is also very convenient as its only 7.9km away from Farley Hill and is close to shops and bars. Looking at the guests reviews, they all rate it as excellent which means that the descriptions are genuine. This is great hotel to stay at if you are interested in Farley Hill and places in its vicinity.

Sugar Cane Club Hotel & Spa is one of the best hotels in Saint Peter and is convenient if you intend to explore the St Nicholas Abbey. The suites here give you a great view of the ocean and garden. As obviously stated in the name, the hotel has a spa which offers various treatments like facials. The deal gets even better with the fact that there is also a gym. St Nicholas Abbey is only a 5 minute drive away. From all the great reviews from guests, it’s safe to say that they are well deserved and if ever in Saint Peter, this should be your first choice.

What is going on?

Barbados Jazz Festival (January) is one of the first Jazz Festivals in the Caribbean since it has run for 10 years. It features music of all genres and there are various venues so you can enjoy music in the serene outdoors. This is a very special kind of event that music lovers should not miss out on.

Holders Season (March) signals the beginning of Performing Arts Festival which includes world class performances. The venue is the one thing that makes it all stand out since its held in one of Barbados oldest and elegant historic plantation houses; Holders House. By attending this event, you get to experience the best music and theatre the world has to offer.

Crop Over Festival (May to August) is an event that happens over a span of twelve weeks. The best thing about this festival is that includes so many activities that you can’t get left out. Some of these fun activities include music, art and dance masquerading among others. The long timeline of this festival ensures that you don’t miss out on all the fun.

Barbados Food & Wine & Rum Festival (November) aims to provide a perfect pairing of the best food, drinks and entertainment. Barbadians and visitors also try to explore all the exquisite flavors originating from the island. Between rum tasting and having conversations with international chefs this festival is the one event you should not miss.

Why it’s a good time to visit

December to April is definitely the hotter part of the year when you are in Barbados. More people prefer going on vacation to places with sun and no rain in generally. Barbados has some of the most beautiful beaches and you’d no doubt really like it there at these specific times of the year.

May to November is the coldest part of the year in this Caribbean Island. Though going there during this cold season may seem like an absolute bust, there a lot of activities you can indulge yourself in. This is definitely a good time to go on vacation there as number of tourists fall considerably compared to earlier in the year.
