Calauit Safari Park.
To see a piece of Africa in the Philippines, this is the place to go to. More than 8600 acres, just off the coast of Palawan, this is the home of local and African flora and fauna. This is where you will see animals like giraffes, monkeys, waterbucks, zebras and more, roaming freely across the park.
Diving at Coron Bay.
Northern Palawan is the place where you will find some of the best diving spots in the world. Coron Bay attracts lots of nature lovers and diving enthusiasts every year. Its specialty is wreck diving. There are 12 diving sites where you will find Japanese shipwrecks from World War II that were sunk in 1944. Guided “tours” are available for all who wish to explore the wreckages and marvel at the magnificent aquatic views from all 12 sites.
World’s longest underground river at Puerto Princesa.
Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the St. Paul’s Subterranean River National Park has been nominated for the new seven world wonders. This is an honor that is extremely well-deserved. Is an hour long tour where a guid takes you via a paddleboat. During the tour as your float down the underground river you will see, bats fly above the caves and formations of limestone to be explored.
Honday Bay and its islands.
Instead of bar-hopping, Palawan has island-hopping and it is absolutely fantastic. Various tours can be booked both in advance and on site. These will take you on one of the most amazing tours. The reefs and waters of the bay are filled with various sea creatures, fish of different shapes and colors. These are some of the best snorkelling and swimming spots in the world – clear water and white sands a true paradise.
El Nido Marine Reserve Park.
The largest wildlife preservation area in the Philippines, El Nido has it all. You will enjoy white sand beaches, coral reefs, rainforest, limestone cliffs and mangroves. Your view from the areas’ beaches feel like you are on another world. But the highlight of El Nido is definitely the “dugong” or sea cow – one of the rarest marine mammals that can be seen when diving in the clear blue waters (of course, in season).
Tubbataha Reef Marine Park.
Often called the “mecca of diving”, you can find some of the most amazing coral reefs in the whole world at the national park. The diversity of marine life is astonishing – there is no doubt why the Marine Park is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
